Great place, great people.
A holiday that will remain in our hearts.
We had high expectations for the landscapes of Umbria but the Acquacalda farmhouse was the real surprise! The enchanting place... informal... genuine... true hospitality... not only in word but in substance!
It's important to understand where you are and so you can't help but be amazed by the charm of this place and truly perceive the work, care, passion of Antonio and Laura... FANTASTIC people! Also beautiful is the mid-August dinner outdoors with music and a nice sing-along!
We had a great time and will definitely be back! Tania
My family and I stayed in this dream property on the first weekend of September, welcomed impeccably by Antonio and Laura.
Our room, "il linden", is very beautiful, with a wonderful beamed ceiling, overlooking a wonderful panorama. Very large, clean room, with beautiful furniture, also a large and comfortable bathroom.
The farmhouse is a corner of paradise in Umbria, it's like a small village, as soon as you arrive, you unplug and make peace with the world. Immense green spaces with cows and goats and a beautiful swimming pool that makes this structure even more unique, adjacent to the swimming pool, the spring from which the farmhouse takes its name. Furthermore, we had also chosen this structure for the riding school which is right there inside, where, thanks to the MAGNIFICENT Salvatore and Laura, we were able to take advantage of and take a wonderful horseback ride, reaching the stream, it was a suggestive and very exciting, it is truly a beautiful riding school with so many horses.
In the morning, a super breakfast awaits you, with several super homemade cakes, really delicious, then biscuits, croissants, biscuits, fruit juices of all kinds, jams, butter, Nutella and freshly prepared hot espresso drinks! And then there is the owner who is infinitely sweet, the hug we exchanged before saying goodbye was like hugging my mother! We will return every year to this facility that regenerates your heart and soul.
Amazing place!
In the heart of Umbria, away from the noise... If you want to enjoy the starry sky there is no better place...
But it's not just the swimming pool and the riding school that make it unique and unbeatable...
But it's the kindness and availability of Laura and Antonio... People from other times, healthy people, capable of making you feel at home... Exceptional cuisine, real, high quality dishes, made with the heart... Congratulations Chef- Dina!
We'll see you again, I'm sure...
As any of you will know who are researching this area, Umbria is the quieter and more rustic version of Tuscany. This agriturismo (run by a contrasting husband and wife) is a classic of the rustic kind and offers just enough comfort to be suitable but is certainly not luxurious. This said, what can you expect from the fact is is VERY well priced and the location is excellent. Set in a verdant bowl of nature with hills all around and close to the very lovely and authentic hilltop village of Montone, and with access to the main route down to Rome, it's a bit of a find. The food and wine of an evening is local, plentiful (you can have as much or as little as required) and really delicious. Seriously.
The pool (more of this in a moment) is really lovely and when it's open, has a drinks bar and a really good space around it. Lovely views abound and its close to all the rooms.
We did however, receive an oddly unfriendly welcome from the lady owner who insisted our children, who had sat in the back of a car for 20 hours over 2 days, and our friends' children who had flown from America, effectively remained silent in the pool over the weekend days as they seemed to have family/friends around the pool who wanted quiet time. This contrasted rather dramatically with the 30 or so Italian children who were allowed to make as much noise as they wanted the next day. It really spoiled the first couple of days. There are also lots of rules around i) wearing a cap (only seems to apply to Brits/Americans as the Italians seemed to not have to wear one) ii) not crossing a low rope around the pool and iii) not going in the pool before 10 or after 7 for no logical reason.
It was a shame, as the chap who owned the place was lovely and would have a bit of a crack with us in the evening and loved how much we loved his food and wine. And the lady, who when she cheered up, was actually quite friendly.
On a more positive note, the fact there is a farm for the kids to explore is so good and the wider grounds are stunning. Also, the area around the venue is well worth an explore and this place is well located to do so.
Do bring your own breakfast though!
Wonderful place immersed in the Umbrian countryside, spacious, clean and well-groomed apartment. Superb, genuine dishes, and clearly made with home-grown ingredients. Our boy fell in love with the Chianina cows and the bull Pippo. Important mention goes to the exquisite kindness of the owners Antonio and Laura who with their warm welcome make you feel at home. Thanks, we will definitely be back.
Relaxing holiday, excellent cuisine and above all happy to have met two wonderful people like Laura and Antonio, helpful and kind, always ready to pamper their customers.
My son super happy this week with them
Clean and well-kept rooms and apartments, beautiful swimming pool and complex with attention to the smallest details
We certainly recommend trying the farm for those looking for a relaxing holiday and excellent food
Rustic farmhouse, immersed in the tranquility of the Umbrian countryside, an excellent starting point for visiting the wonders of this fantastic region. Good food and excellent welcome from the owners, very kind and always available. The swimming pool, the riding stables and the possibility of seeing the animals are excellent.
